I would argue, that the soul of the flower is what makes a flower, the flower.

The connection between writers and the earth's beauty has moved beyond the fundamental questioning. I have turned away from the grand narratives of verse, seeking a vivid, experimental minimalism found in the core of things.

I wasn't searching for epic sadness or joy, but for the moment of stillness— the question and the answer, briefly align, revealing the flower’s secret inner life, and reflecting it back to me like a mirror of pain.

Some of these poems are an excerpt from poetry I wrote back in 2019, and I reused it as narrative to accompany the spirit of the flowers, roses and still lives of the new painting I was so inspired by from the dutch masters.

I used flora and fauna as a soft, sighing stand-ins for human feeling, heartbreak, love, the emotion of despair between two lovers, as notes from a letter that accompanies a bouquet of flowers as a gift.

The poems were like the little notes that comes with those gifted by loved ones, sometimes not in a happy tone, but in pain, which makes it all human. An emotional landscape of some sort.

My own poetic experiments are focused on the search for the soul. I find myself sitting and attempting to feel the deep, silent petals of nature and its beauty.

I hope this book comes as a discovery of beauty for all the human experiences of love, loss and despair- it's what makes us who we are, human, in love with beauty, always.
